Welcome

We’re glad you stopped by.  We created this site as an expanding resource for those who want to facilitate the inner and outer development of children.  Our links page will guide you to more quality websites and our blog will give you a place to share and learn with others who are interested in the wellness of children and families.

Global Family Yoga provides tools, based in the science and art of yoga, for nurturing the development of children into the happiest, healthiest and most well balanced individuals they can be.  These tools include various training programs for those who care for and about kids.  Parents, teachers, health care workers and other professionals who work with young people can benefit by augmenting their expertise with these techniques.

Now you can become a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance® AND become certified to teach yoga to children at the same time!  Once you've completed our comprehensive training, you will be a qualified RYT able to share the gift of yoga with both children and adults.

What's New?

The weekend of April 11-13 was our Yoga Lab in Chicago.  All weekend long GFY teachers-in-training taught free classes for the community.  It was a huge success.  All the children and families who participated had a great time practicing yoga in a fun, engaging way.  Our students enjoyed the chance to share their passion for teaching as well as watch other teachers show their stuff.  A big thank you to everyone involved!

We've added links to more yoga related news and articles on our links page.  This page is intended to be a resource for anyone interested in knowing a little more about yoga and its benefits for children.  If you'd like to suggest a link, please contact us

What's Next?

We're very excited about the summer schedule.  There are three 20-hour weekend trainings coming up in May and June.

May 16-18 is Walking the Path - teaching yoga to older teens and young adults.  Yoga can have a profound impact on this age group.  You will learn the most effective ways to reach out to these up and coming global citizens while helping them develop a personal practice.  We will go beyond the asanas to also explore karma yoga and peace building skills.

On June 6-8 we will be offering Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes - anatomy you need to know for teaching yoga to kids and adults.  Both the physical and energetic systems of the body will be explored.  Through games, discussion and practice you will become familiar with the major systems in the body and the developmental changes in these bodies from age five through adult.

The popular Family Yoga – teaching to mixed age classes is being held June 27-29. This weekend will focus on teaching partner poses, cooperative games and yoga based art projects.  You will learn how to teach to a class of students who vary widely in age range.  Family dynamics and communication styles will be explored in the context of facilitating a yoga class.

We are also offering a 4-hour Introduction to Teaching Yoga to Children workshop on July 12

On the other end of the training spectrum is our 8-day Sundari Intensive July 25-August 2
